Scrapbook Layout Class

Good Morning!  Looks to be a gorgeous day here in the neighborhood.  Ella and Adria have soccer games and Denver's looking to do a little fishing today to add to the fish filet stash.  I think we are planning on having a bluegill fish fry after Adria's graduation tomorrow, because isn't that what everyone does after a big event?   Welcome to Redneck-ville…

I hope to get into the garden this morning yet and work a little on the weeds.  I may run out to the garden store to pick up a few hanging baskets.  I haven't done any shopping or flower planting this year yet and I'm missing the color. Before I tackle my to-do list, I wanted to share a quick photo of one of MY favorite layouts from Layout class this past month.  Our next class is June 18th and I hope you will join us!

July 4th Layout

This is a really fun "star" stamp set.  I've used it for patriotic scrapbook layouts, birthdays and graduations.  It's a multi-use stamp set and with this new Stampin' Up! catalog, a great deal.  You can purchase the stamp set individually or along with the coordinating framelits at a 15% discount.  Woot, Woot.  It's a good as apple pie and baseball…

Puchase the supplies here.

I do have additional layouts from the class available for purchase as well!  Contact me for more information.

Awesome Dad Scrapbook Page

Ode to Dad Scrapbook Page…Today is my Dad's 67th Birthday and I wanted to share one of the pages that we scrapped this past week at my Layouts Class.  These photos were shot at his 65th birthday, I think.  (I resolve to be more organized about the photo editing/documentation in the future.)   Usually you can gather clues from the photos that will help with the chronological dating or better yet, have the date indicator turned on, on the camera.  Mine is not, as that would presume that I've read the directions for it's use.  So it's back to clue gathering from the photo itself.  There are 7 candles and I can draw no conclusions from that, as I'm thinking we probably just felt that 65 candles take a LOT of matches or that's all the were in the cupboard?…

So, I'm going to go with the fact that Ella's pony tails are pretty short and would stand to reason as she had given herself a haircut around that time.  :)  So I'm going to go with 65 here.. See who needs a camera with the date set!?!

Father Scrapbook Page

Just in case you are wondering, my Dad IS an AMAZING FATHER.  My brother and I had awesome parents and I know that Cal would agree with me…Dad was never was too busy to take us for a spin around the lake on the intertube in his FISHING boat or drop work to pull us in a sled on the snowmobile etc.  He very rarely got upset with us.  He was the pushover in the strict parent, soft parent routine that my folks had going.  I remember him saying…"well, you have to say no to so many things, so why not let them sleep over at a friends on a school night?"   Never rich or poor, we were always comfortable with just enough, so I don't remember being showered with things so much but more so, time…

Don't get me wrong, we had plenty of things!  He surprised us one time with a small motorcycle and he didn't balk when we thought we needed a tetherball, he just sunk the metal pole in the BLACKTOP driveway for us.  When I thought I might like a horse, he just figured out a way to pay for fencing and get water to the barn.  But his generosity with his time is what stands out..Even now, he'll help with whatever projects I've got…came and dug water to our barn with his backhoe, he redid my cabinets in the office, he's building Denver a bed…etc.  The list goes on and on..

He's got a pretty funny sense of humor and can talk to anyone.  Growing up, we never doubted that my mom and dad were a team and were in love.  So yeah, I know I have an AMAZING Father…Mother too…but her birthday is NEXT month.  So Dad…Happy Birthday and many, many more.  I love you, both!

You enjoy the, hopefully, final snowstorm of the season and consider joining us for the Layouts class.  It's a GREAT way to scrapbook!

Rubberstamped Card Flop…

Sometimes you're hot and sometimes you're NOT!  Today was one of those mornings where I wasn't so "hot".  Some times creative endevors, like scrapbook pages and cards etc. can be a bit like labor..a little work and the result is SO worth the effort. (note to self:  insert photo of darling children.)  And sometimes it's more like that dumb triathalon that I tried ONCE…painful, grueling and when finished all you can do is ask, "whatever for!?"  Note:  Labor WAS WAY easier….

So today…my effort is in the triathalon category.  Ever have one of those creative days?  Every card/page/quilt square etc is just a dog?  I've been "hot" all week and today…ugh!  It's almost laughable.  I found this card on Pinterest and I wanted to use it as a source of inspiration….my cousin wanted a few and so I thought I would Stampin' UP!-amatize it.  (you know, make a Stampin' Up! version of it!)

So I started with the Quint-essential Flower Stamp, cause it's a free choice during Sale-a-bration.  Yeah, it didn't go with the swirly background stamp
Stamping messthat I had.  So I moved over to Mixed Blossom and yeah, that didn't look very good either.
By then I was getting a bit frustrated and neglected to use the Embossing Buddy with my Wild Wasabi Embossing Powder and you can probably guess the result of that one…

So sometimes it's just better to throw your hands up and step away from the card.   Accept the fact that occasionly ugly cards are born….

One of my better pages from the week

and hope that your stampin' mojo returns.  And see who else is having one of those days?

I'm going to go clean up the mess and THINK about doing some laundry.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Punch Art

A simple constant in my life is chocolate anything and if it's fruit wrapped in chocolate, well that's even better!  Chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered raspberries or cherries, chocolate covered coffee beans…what?  It's a bean and must then be a vegetable and thus closely related to fruit, right?  Chocolate is a food group in my world.  So when I got this ADORABLE card from a good friend, Gail, I just about flipped!  It's a Chocolate Covered strawberry done using our Heart Framelits.  Too cute, right?  I'm kind of thinking I need to do a scrapbook page with this card/colors/image.  What you think?  Am I up for the challenge?  Tomorrow's video project?  Make sure you've subscribed to my You-tube Channel to make sure that you are getting all the tips, techniques and projects.

And if you need the supplies to work up your own Chocolate Covered Strawberry.  Here's the list

My Digital Studio

Yeah, I've been neglecting you this week!  But I have an excuse.  I been working up samples for the Scrapbook Expo using My Digital Studio.  It's been really really fun.  Now here's a quick layout done with MDS.  I need to make this quick as I worked last night and the caffeine edge is wearing off quickly!

My Project 17-001

But here's my family.  I used a preset template in MDS from the Delight in the Day Photo Book Template (actually this page is part of a two page layout) and then proceeded to change colors and papers to customize to fit my pages and photos.  It's better in person.  Come and check it out at our display area at the Milwaukee Scrapbook Expo on April 20th & 21st.  See you then!
