October has, traditionally, been Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This past weekend my cousin helped chair a fundraiser called, Pretty In Pink. This is the 3rd year it's been held and over its first two years, Pretty in Pink has raised over $22,000 to benefit the Marshfield Clinic Cancer Patient Fund – Weston/Wausau. The funds go directly to families fighting the Breast Cancer fight. For instance, it helped fund a spa day for those women that completed their last chemotherapy treatment as well as many other helpful services. This event showcases artful bras and the bras are up for auction. It was a very nicely done event and I truly enjoyed my time with my aunts and cousins.
Recently Stampin' Up! used Pink Boxes to ship their October Paper Pumpkin Kits. $1 from each subscriber was donated to Breast Cancer Research Fund and $2 for each NEW subscriber. That's pretty cool.
And earlier in the season, I hosted a "Have Hope..Breast Cancer Collage Fundraiser". This summer a good customer and friend lost her battle to Breast Cancer. Lisa was a bright star, the life of the party and just plain old hilarious. Off the wall funny…crazy nice and I think of her often. She has a daughter that is close in age to my son and I can't help but cry for the loss she has experienced. I know Lisa and her daughter were close and I am so sad to think of her traversing the minefield of teenage years without her Mom. Nothing will replace that….but I need to be busy…lest I become very sad…so it was just a small token but I felt I wanted to SOMETHING…and something is better than NOTHING. I created a Have Hope Collage and all proceeds collected from class that day will be donated to Hannah's Education fund. I've got a nice little check here to send off…
but I have ONE MORE collage…and I would like to auction it off…
I will post this on my Facebook Page and start the bidding…This final collage auction will run until 11:59 CT on Sunday, Nov 1st. You buy it and I will ship it….anywhere…
Do you have a friend fighting the fight? Are you a victor? or just looking to support a very good cause…Head over to my Facebook Page (click like while you are there!) and enter your bid in the comments! I'm going to try and bat my eyelashes and talk my husband into making a matching donation from his RS Flooring company…oh wait, I have the checkbook…So I (oops, I mean RS Flooring will match the winning bid, up to $250) Let's Stamp Out Breast Cancer on a very personal, local level!
