My baby turned 13 yesterday. I can't believe it's been that long since we've brought her home and our lives were changed forever. She loves soccer,Twilight, clothes, Facebook, her friends, & snowboarding. The typical teen stuff. She's a lot of help around the house, usually, and just a plain good kid.
She really didn't have a Birthday Wish List except that she would "have" a birthday cake with candles, preferably DQ icecream cake. Last year, she was sort of ripped off as we spent the day traveling to Oregon for a wedding and she didn't "buy" our tale that we were taking her on a trip for her birthday.
I bought a Ripstick around Christmas time that I had hidden and with a game or so… I felt that'd be adequate. I needed to stamp a special card and thought the Extreme Snowboarder would be great. I'm telling you, I've used that stamp more than any other in my collection of late! I googled Hannah Teter and found the colors she'd been wearing. Loved the Crushed Curry Jacket with some black and white floral boarding pants, but then I found the Olympic Team's outfits. Bingo.
I whipped out our discontinued Plaid Maker and sponged a plaid background using Night of Navy and Real Red. I've got an Ella-free morning and I'm going to work on step by step directions and a substitution for you all Non-Plaid Maker owners.
Ok, not the most difficult card but I was in the middle of making Stuffed Shells, feeding chickens, shopping for a gift for my father, answering the phone…you get the picture, right?
And here she is being spoiled by her father. He thought he'd make her 13th Birthday extra-special. No simple Rummikub game for her…nope, she's now the proud owner of a extremely cute metallic pink phone. :) Daddys are the best.
