a card worthy of it’s recipient! No, it’s not my Mother’s Day cards. Those are another issue all together. I’m talking about my Surprise Color Challenge Card. I’m on a yahoo group with a great bunch of gals. It’s called SSUS. I think it stands for Sensational Stampin’ Up Stampers and we have weekly challenges and swaps that we can participate in. But I think I’ve told you all that before….
Anyhoo, I signed up in April for a Surprise Color Challenge. There’s a site that generates Stampin’ Up! color combos for you. You click on a color, for example Green Galore and it’ll give you a couple of other options to use with Green Galore. And there is a "surprise me" button and it’ll give you five colors and sometimes combos you’d never have used. Our challenge was to do just that. My first click gave me the following colors, Really Rust, River Rock, Ballet Blue, Barely Banana and Apricot Appeal. Of course, I never do anything in a small way, I was a combo generating fool! The printer was just spitting out choices. Actually I was thinking backup choices if the first colors didn’t sing to me. I loved the colors but just didn’t like the card so much.
- Stamps: Just B, Seeing Spots
- Inks: Ballet Blue, Really Rust
- CS: Really Rust, Barely Banana, Ballet Blue and River Rock
- Misc: Apricot Ribbon
Well, it’s not that I didn’t "like" the card, I was just underwhelmed by it. I mean, jeepers, it’s going to one and only Pat Huntoon of the amazing website www.patstamps.com. The author of the Technique Junkies Newsletter. Eeeps. So, I shoved that color combo to the bottom and worked with my "new" palette: Apricot Appeal, Soft Sky, Basic Black, Whisper White and Really Rust. I used my new set Pretty Amazing and I’ll have to say this new card was singing!
