I’ve managed to sneak a few minutes away in the office while the baby slept. I pulled out the new Sellabration set Big Blossom and had a chance to play or should we say, stamp with fury as the gift exchange was to happen that afternoon! Talk about motivation!
These tins were all the rage a couple of months ago. I stocked up on them, like any savvy stamper seeing a deal, and have used them quite often. They are adorable either as the gift itself or as the giftwrap.
Adria and I stamped this one up quick for a gift for her friend Sarah. We added a personalized stamp and cards for the inside. Can’t you just see it packed with chocolate, goodies, cookies or handstamped cards. Our local Scrapbook store’s owner was retiring and the background paper was one of my purchases! I confess to a paper fetish and usually buy at least 3-4 of each design, just in case. The tin was supposed to be a lighter paisley but Adria accidently stuck the pieces together and sticky strip is NOT reposititionable on cardstock! 🙂 And wouldn’t you know, the one time I didn’t let myself purchase extra….alas, yellow background worked fine too.
When I did a class with these tins, the trickiest part was getting the paper around the clasp. I found that if I cut two strips of background paper at 4 1/4" and lay them face to face and then use one of our oval punches and punch just a quarter of the opening. Not sure if that makes sense, but when you are put the papers together, you will have a notch that opens around the clasp. The circle punch will work also, but I prefer the width of the ovals.
The blossom is stamped with Cool Caribbean and I made faux chipboard. This is a cool way to create additional dimension and stability to some things. I stamped, glued with a glue stick to scrap paper, and then glued to a third sheet. I then cut it out with a scissors and used the Pop-up Glue Dots to secure to the tin. I’ve found that using a sanding block to rough up the edges also is a fun look, especially when using colored cardstock on the top layer and white on the bottom two.
